We are pleased to announce that Julie Garwood recently accepted the position of Rock Point Camp Director. In this role, Julie will be responsible for overseeing all camp-related activities, including camp programs and operations, training and supervision of staff and volunteers, budget management and other administrative duties.
Julie comes to Rock Point Camp with previous experience in similar roles, having worked as a camp and after school director in Winooski and prior to that as a Camp Director for the YMCA in the State of New Jersey. She resides in Burlington with her husband, Paul, and their infant son, Porter, only minutes away from Rock Point.
Julie commented, “I moved to this beautiful state two years ago with my husband in search of a life full of adventure and appreciation for the great outdoors. I can think of no better role for me than one that helps me to do just that, every day, alongside other campers and counselors. A dream job, to say the least!”
She continued, “I look forward to continuing Rock Point’s mission of ‘caring for creation, neighbor, and self... and having fun!’ I anticipate spending the next few months leading up to summer learning more about your traditions and continuing the legacy created by the Rev. Sherry Osborn and many others over the decades.”
Rock Point Camp, a mission of The Episcopal Church in Vermont, is now in its 88th year. Registration for the 2019 camp season had begun, and the application deadline is May 31.
