The Greater Burlington Y was able to run an 8-week Summer Adventure camp at Rock Point's Conference Center. The Day Camp Program ran from June 27th-August 19th from 8:00 am-5:00 pm, M-F.
Who We Served: GBYMCA served 150+ kids, ages 7-13, all over the state of Vermont, (coming from towns as south as Montpelier to as north as Swanton) as well as children visiting family on vacation from New York and Texas.
What We Did: Our Outdoor Adventure Camp focused on just that... adventures outdoors! Kids were immersed in nature every day through activities that included: hiking on the local trails, swimming, boating, exploring the waterfront, learning archery, fire building, and other outdoor skills. We created art and STEM projects in the conference room, tie-dyed, and so much more! A favorite Friday tradition was cooking pizza in the stone pizza oven! We also went on many field trips including the movies, rock climbing at Camp Abnaki, and many state parks.
Our days were filled with games, activities, laughter, and fun.
Kids had a chance to let loose, make new friends, try new things, and practice new skills!
Our highly-trained, amazing team of staff was able to build meaningful relationships with kids and families which lead to a positive, supportive atmosphere at camp. Our voices could be heard echoing across the lake singing, laughing, and cheering each other on.
The amazing grounds of Rock Point made our job easy this summer and provided so many children with a truly genuine camp experience.
